When life serves up an AFGO*
Coaching with individuals, couples, and families dealing with life altering illness or injury
I'm very pleased to announce launching my coaching practice specializing in the care and business of illness and injury. In very blunt terms, I support people dealing with questions like WTF just happened? What do I do now? How do I survive? How do I thrive? These questions are asked not only by people experiencing illness or injury, but also by those who love them.
My work integrates over three decades experience in counseling and coaching with hard earned expertise in navigating the unpredictable pathways of illness and injury. I’ve been a caregiver and care recipient, sometimes simultaneously, as I've created a life with multiple sclerosis for over half my life. Here is where the personal and professional merge, often with a sense of humor. In addition to facilitating for over 10 years a support group for caregivers of loved ones with dementia, I have lived for almost 2 years in a long-term care facility gaining an immersion experience in dementia, end of life care and the complex dynamics of residential settings. I’ve worked extensively with individuals and families dealing with everything from cerebral palsy, cancer, Alzheimer's, kidney failure, spinal cord injuries, strokes, to ALS and from first onset through end of life. There's a parallel process for caregivers and their loved ones with impacts on physical health, identity, roles and relationships, coping skills, mental and emotional needs, family dynamics, financial stability, career, housing, and more. All this offers a rare 360° perspective into how it is possible to shift from overwhelmed to thriving.
